Cook Until Browned

I just recently watched the film Grave of the Fireflies.  Whether you like anime or not, this is an amazing film on its own.  Set in Japan in WW2, two children escape from their bombed village to a countryside bunker to self-sustain themselves throughout American attacks.  They find safety but also the challenges of keeping healthy.
The mannerisms and subtleties of the children in this animation were so well done, I was amazed.  It’s also a well crafted war movie, unlike many other formulaic movies of the genre.  It’s interesting from a cultural point of view, being a Japanese interpretation of the War.    Five stars + lasting memories.
